Radio check-in scheduler · Emergency comms

Will your comms work
when you need them?
Prove it.

CommsUp schedules recurring radio check-ins for your family, neighborhood, or net — reminds every member, and builds a drill record that shows your emergency communication plan actually works.

HAM · GMRS · FRS · MURS · MESHTASTIC — any radio, any group. No credit card.

R1Family · FRS / GMRS

Your family's radios only count if you've used them.

FRS radios need no license. GMRS covers your whole family with one no-exam license. CommsUp gives you the missing piece: a standing five-minute family radio check — same channel, same time each week — with a reminder on every parent's phone and a streak the kids will want to keep alive. When the cell network goes down, you won't be reading the manual by flashlight.

R2Neighborhood · GMRS / Meshtastic

A prepared neighborhood is a coordinated one.

Your block has radios scattered across a dozen houses. CommsUp turns them into a network: poll neighbors for the best time, publish one shared comms plan with primary and backup channels, and track who's checking in month over month. Built for CERT teams, Map Your Neighborhood groups, and HOAs adding emergency comms to their preparedness plan.

R3Regional · Ham / ARES

Run the net. Skip the spreadsheet.

Every net manager knows the drill: email blasts, a stale roster, and no idea who's drifted away until they're gone. CommsUp handles the schedule, the frequency and mode details, the pre-net reminders, and the long-term check-in record — including PACE fallbacks for your ARES or emergency comms group, and exportable activity reports for your EC.

How it works

Sked it. Drill it. Know it works.

Step 1

Set the sked

Poll your group for the best time, then lock in a recurring check-in with the frequency, channel, mode, and PACE fallback attached. Everyone sees the same comms plan.

Step 2

Get everyone on the air

CommsUp reminds every member before each check-in — "Radio check in 10 minutes, Ch. 17" — in their own time zone. No more "I forgot it was net night."

Step 3

Build your drill record

One tap logs who made contact and which channel worked. Streaks, attendance, and channel health turn your plan into proof.

The drill record

A comms plan nobody practices is just a document.

Every check-in becomes evidence. CommsUp tracks who made contact, on which channel, over months — so you can see readiness rising, spot members drifting before they're gone, and find out that your backup frequency has never actually been proven.

Your profile lists what you can operate — from phone and FRS to GMRS, ham, and Meshtastic — and CommsUp scores the links between members, not just the people. The question it answers: if the grid goes down, are you still connected?

Questions

Before you key up

Do I need a ham license?

No. CommsUp works for any radio service — FRS and Meshtastic need no license at all, and GMRS is a simple no-exam family license. You're responsible for operating legally on whatever service you use.

Is this a logging or net-control app?

No — tools like NetLogger and netcontrol.live are great for running a live net. CommsUp is what gets everyone to the net: the schedule, the reminders, and the long-term record.

What does it cost?

Free for individuals and small groups. Larger groups pay one annual fee from the group treasury. Donations welcome, never required.

What happens to my data if you shut down?

You can export everything — rosters, schedules, and drill history — in open formats, anytime, with one click.
